Grange Girls on top

A 5-0 clean-out of table-topping Watsonians - the first time this season a team has scored maximum points. The first time in years that Grange has won away to Watsonians' lovely but cold courts. Thank you rain for keeping the temperature in double figures.

Donna Cruickshank bt Alexis Manson 3-0. Very close game with two games going to 10. Both players were experts at drop shots but Donna was more hungry. Lots of wheezing on court... Catherine John bt Christina Graham 3-0. Great game to watch, some excellent squash on display but young legs outshone very experienced ones. Lottie Fulton bt Christine Cochrane 3-0. Tentative start to the game, bit of a lapse but then back on track to close the match. Anna Gaskell bt Margaret Clarke 3-1. Demon Anna strikes again.
Karen Kennedy bt Suzie Laughland 3-1. Cat and mouse game, but the mouse was more agile this time....looking forward to the next encounter.

Supper was lovely - baked potatoes with veggie ratatuille and cheese followed by some very nice Crimbles. There was also some tortilla chips but bit of confusion as to where the dips had gone.
------------------------
Overall the score was 20-4 which overturns a 12-point lead and puts Grange 1 in first place, for now. We have a bye next week but we are in danger of being top of the division at the end of this league... Bit dizzy up here but I'm sure we could get used to it.(KK)

Well played to the Grangettes.

I can't remember the Myreside girls being beaten for just a couple of points. I know the boys have, but the girls have always been pretty steady.

It's a fantastically tight league.

What odds on a great escape by ESC1s, who then go on to win the second half league and then a play-off against the ladies who Grange to win the title (again).

I can't see much silverware coming to Myreside this season, but I reckon we'll avoid relegation before Christmas.

Yes, this year's butt-clenching Div 1 finale is in the ladies league, great to see.

ESC are doomed unless they pull in Senga, which is unlikely. Nobody has won by more than a handful of points (apart grom Grangettes ;-) and ESC would need to recover 14 points in 2 matches!

Don't worry, Grange 1 have achieved the relegation feat by Xmas... but I see a miraculuous recovery in their fate in 2012 (watch this space)

Grange 1 I meant of course the open team.
